While out with their photographer friend Snap, they are taking a few pictures of their Pokémon. They see an ad for a breeding center where they treat the Pokémon well. Misty brings her Psyduck there and hopes they will improve it. They find a restaurant where you eat free if you bring in a Psyduck. Misty and the group rush back to the breeding center to discover it is fake. It is a center run by Team Rocket, but not Jessie and James. The boss is angry because they always mess up and trusts this new plan to other members Butch and Cassidy. Jessie and James break into the center at the same time not knowing about it, and try to steal Pokémon. They are all thrown in jail except for Misty and Pikachu, who make it out. Misty gets Pikachu to get Snap’s camera which proves their innocence and takes it to Jenny. Butch and Cassidy are arrested as well as Jessie and James, although Jessie and James dig their way out.

Full summary
Ash, Misty, Brock and Todd (the photographer) have stopped to rest in a town. They are watching a weather forecast through a window of a shop. After it is finished a girl with yellow hair comes on advertising a five star Breeding Center. Brock says that Breeding Centers are the latest craze. Todd says that they are for people who can't raise their own Pokemon. Ash suggests that they go and have a look at it.
They arrive at the Breeding Center to see a large group of people crowding around holding Pokemon. The woman from the advertisement is there and Misty says that she looks really nice. The woman says, "We believe in Pokemon love power." Brock goes into his pretty woman trance. A man with blue hair comes up behind her. Misty gets rather suspicious. She walks into the Breeding Center and outs her Psyduck on the desk. She says that she wants to leave her Psyduck there and maybe you can knock some sense into. She also says that she wants them to get the confused look off its face too. Ash says that all of that would need a miracle to happen. Psyduck is placed on a conveyor belt and they all leave.
Misty says that her Psyduck will prove if the Breeding Center is real or just a hoax. Ash says that he will take Psyduck off her hands, but Misty says she wants to keep it. They walk past a restaurant advertising free food. Todd says that there must be a catch. The owner comes out and says that the catch is you have to show him his favorite Pokemon. Ash, Misty and Brock send out all of there Pokemon but the man says none of them are the one he likes. He says his favorite is Psyduck! Misty groans. Whenever I need Psyduck it is never here.
Ash, Misty, Brock and Todd run off to the Breeding Center. When they get there they find it locked. Misty says that she has to get her Psyduck back. So everyone goes to the back door which they find unlocked. They enter in and have a look around. There is not much inside except lots of doors. They go through one and Brock turns on his torch. In the light of he beam they see Pokemon locked in small cages. They are all horrified. Misty finds her Psyduck in a cage and looks to see what they have done to it. Its eyes have been held back with tape. Ash and friends attention is brought to a Sandshrew being taken to another room by a conveyor belt. They hear talking from the next room. The man and the woman that own the Breeding Center are there. They say that the Sandshrew would be good if they could teach it fury swipes. It turns out that they are from Team Rocket. They say that Pokemon trainers are so gullible. They are just taking their Pokemon and giving the best ones to the Boss. Todd says that he should start taking pictures to reveal what is really going on at the 'Breeding Center.' He takes a picture of the conveyor belt and the Breeding Center owners see the flash. We find out that their names are Butch and Cassidy. Butch comes out to investigate. Ash quickly puts Pikachu in a cage and tells it to spark a bit. Butch comes past and falls for it. He calls out to Cassidy that it was only the Pikachu making the flash.
Ash decides it is time to leave. They are just about to when three figures appear coming out of a vent. It is Jessie, James and Meowth. They have come to the Breeding Center on they latest idea to steal Pokemon. Suddenly the lights turn on and Butch and Cassidy come forward and say their motto, which is a lot like Jessie and James's. Their Pokemon is Raticate. James yells at them, "Find your own motto to steal!" Butch and Cassidy say that Jessie, James and Meowth are probably going to get thrown off the team for stealing the Boss' Pokemon. Meowth makes Jessie and James bow down to Butch and Cassidy and ask that the event be forgotten.
While the Team Rocket members are fighting Ash and the others make a break for it. Jessie, James and Meowth run for it to, but James remembers he left his Weepinbell at the Breeding Center yesterday. They run back and look for it. He finds it has evolved into a Victreebel. He opens the cage and his Pokemon swallows his head. A cage suddenly falls from the roof and captures Jessie, James, Meowth and the Victreebel. Another cage falls and captures Ash, Brock and Todd. Misty and Pikachu run off and hide. Butch and Cassidy come and look at their prizes. They take the camera off Todd. Cassidy tells an Officer Jenny that Ash, Brock, Todd, Jessie and James are burglars and she wants them locked away. Ash says they've got the wrong people, but Officer Jenny won't believe them.
Misty, Togepi and Pikachu are in a side alley near the Breeding Center trying to figure out how to get the pictures to show that Ash and the others are not buglers. Misty walks into the Breeding Center in a hat and jacket. She asks Cassidy for her Psyduck back. When Cassidy leaves the room to go and get it Pikachu jumps out of Misty's coat to look for the camera. Cassidy returns with Psyduck and soon after Pikachu comes back with the camera.
At the jail Ash, Brock and Todd are still claiming to Jenny that they are innocent. Jenny still will not believe them. James is still admiring his Victreebel saying how big, strong and friendly it is. It swallows James' head again. Suddenly the door is pushed open and Misty appears. She says to Officer Jenny "You've got the wrong people!" She pulls out the pictures to show Jenny. Unfortunately she picks out vacation pictures. Misty notices she has the wrong ones and gets the right ones out. Jenny is horrified at seeing Pokemon in cages. She continues that Butch and Cassidy arrested them all because they knew the truth about the 'Breeding Center.' Jessie and Meowth say that they were trying to save the Pokemon too but Misty reveals that they were trying to steal the Pokemon.
They all go off to the Breeding Center. Officer Jenny says that Butch and Cassidy are under arrest. Cassidy sends out Raticate and Ash tells Pikachu to Thundershock it. Raticate faints. Butch and Cassidy start to run away but Ash gets Bulbasaur to catch them with its Vine Whip. The two Team Rocket criminals are taken to jail. Jenny says that all of the Pokemon will be returned to their trainers.
Ash, Misty, Brock and Todd go down to the restaurant to get free food. Misty shows the man her Psyduck and he serves them a meal for free. The man says that he just loves Psyduck.
In jail Jessie, James and Meowth are digging their way out mainly because the place has no mirrors. Ash and friends finish their meal and continue on their journey. Todd says he is going to the mountains to get more pictures of Pokemon. Ash, Misty and Brock wave goodbye to him. They continue to walk down the path. Underneath them Team Rocket is digging their hole! I wonder what will happen next.

Pokemon Episode 56 – The Ultimate Test

Episode Summary

Season 1 – Indigo League

Ash and friends arrive at a school that promises that if you can pass their tests, you can enter the Pokémon League without getting all the badges. Ash enters the school, and so does Jessie and James. The tests begin and Jessie is kicked out for complaining the tests are way too hard. Ash and James make it to the third part of the test where you fight with your examiner’s Pokémon. Ash fights with Weezing and wins. James is delighted to see Pikachu by his side, but when he looses to a Graveler he sends out two Pokémon at once which is against the rules and is kicked out. For revenge, Team Rocket attacks the school with the Pokémon they got, but the Pokémon turned on them because they were owned by the instructor. Ash decides then that it would be easier to get all of the badges rather than go through these tests and he leaves the school.

Full summary
Ash, Misty, Brock, and their new friend Todd, are having a picnic when Misty asks Ash when he's going to earn another badge. She tells him that he hasn't gotten one for a while, and most of the ones he already has didn't take much to earn. To prove that he has the skills to beat a gym leader, he challenges Misty to a match. Todd suggests that he take the Pokemon League admissions exam instead. They go to the structure where it is taking place and one of the staff members tells them that the exam is for people who don't have enough time to go around collecting badges. They are rated on a combined written and practical skills exam, and if they pass, they get a badge qualifying them to go directly to the Pokemon League. He hands Ash a badge with a seven on it, telling him that it is his testing number. Ash is excited, as seven is a lucky number.
Nearby, a very familiar girl with red hair fumes over the fact that she wanted number seven. Ash notices him looking at her, and she quickly goes back to the application she was filling out. Ash mumbles to himself that she looks familiar, and Misty raves about how many people. Brock notices a Joy standing among the crowd, and immediately approaches her. Ash and Misty start to follow, but the staff member tells Ash to give him his Pokemon, as trainers should be able to work with any kind of Pokemon. They go over to Joy, and Ash asks her if she wants to become a Pokemon master. Joy says that that's been her dream, and tells them that she's from Fuchsia City. She tells them that she's taking the exam because she's too busy to travel to earn eight badges. Brock eagerly tells her that he's sure she'll do great.
Ash notices another familiar blue-haired person walk into the building. He notices Ash looking at him and hurries off. He approaches the desk and hands the man his application form. The red-haired girl overhears the man read his name off as James, and immediately recognizes. Unfortunately for James, he doesn't recognize Jessie and calls her an old bat. Enraged, she drags him outside to yell at him. They ask each other why they're there, and James says that he dreams of being a Pokemon Master. Jessie says that the reason she's there is to make an addition to her resume. Suddenly, Meowth appears, accusing them of running away from him. They try to make something up as a picnic, but he doesn't believe them and scratches their faces. James throws out a yarn ball, and Meowth, being a feline, chases after it while Jessie and James run off. Soon afterwards, the first part of the exam begins.
The exam is to test the participants' general knowledge of Pokemon by asking them true or false questions such as if Hitmonlee is known as the "Punching Demon." James struggles with a few of the questions, and notices that Jessie is whizzing right through them all. He wonders how she knows all the answers, but Jessie is actually giving all true answers, thinking to herself that she'll get half of them right. The next exam tests participants' ability to recognize Pokemon by seeing their silhouettes or parts of their bodies. The questions are extremely difficult, and Ash, Jessie, and James keep getting wrong answers. Jessie gets fed up, and stomps out of the room, resulting in her disqualification. She wakes Meowth up, and tells him that they are going to get her revenge.
After the tests, Ash and his friends look at the standings. Nurse Joy is near the top, and Ash is almost a the bottom next to James. Ash gets really upset, but consoles himself in the fact that the Pokemon battles are coming up, and that's what Pokemon is all about. Nearby, James stands in a corner, telling himself that he'll have to do his best for Jessie. Soon, the third and final exam begins. This is the battling round, and it tests a trainer's ability to adapt to battle, no matter what Pokemon he or she has. Joy does quite well, and Brock cheers her on. Ash and James each pick a belt of three mystery Pokemon that they're going to have to battle with, and James goes into the ring. James sends out the first Pokemon, which turns out to be a Pikachu. He is quite surprised, as is everyone else who knows him. He feels confident in himself, as he's been destroyed by Pikachu's attacks so many times he knows them all. The examiner sends Graveler, and James commands Pikachu to use Thunderbolt. It has no effect, needless to say, and Pikachu is hurled back by a tackle attack. Annoyed, James sends out both his other Pokemon at the same time, which happen to be Charizard and Ivysaur, but is disqualified as two against one is against the rules. He is heartbroken, but Jessie and Meowth tell him that they have a plan.
Now it is Ash's turn. The examiner sends out a Flareon, and Ash's first Pokemon turns out to be a Weezing. Ash is annoyed, but he has no choice and starts the battle. Weezing dodges several Flamethrower attacks from Flareon and lets loose a Smog attack. The flames ignite the gas, throwing Flareon back. Flareon starts in on a Leer attack, but Weezing fills the area with smoke from Smoke Screen. Since Flareon cant see, Weezing is able to defeat him with a Tackle attack. The examiner is impressed, and sends out Jolteon. Ash withdraws Weezing, and sends his next Pokemon, an Arbok. Ash thinks about what attacks Arbok has while Jolteon uses Agility. Arbok paralyzes him with a Glare attack, and moves in for a Wrap. Jolteon's sharp spikes poke him, and he jumps back in pain. Jolteon lets loose a Thunder attack, and Arbok is defeated. Ash withdraws Arbok and sends out his final Pokemon, a Meowth. Meowth in the stands starts to cheer, and yells out to Ash to use Fury Swipes on the examiner's newly sent out Vaporeon. Meowth lunges, but Vaporeon freezes him with an Ice Beam and he falls to the ground. The battle is over and Ash has lost.
Meowth runs up to Ash and scratches his face for letting another Meowth get hurt. He frees the other Meowth from the ice, and the challenger throws a Pokeball at him since he can talk. The ball is deflected by James' Charizard, Pikachu, and Ivysaur, and Jessie and James fling off their costumes. They prepare to attack the examiner with the Pokemon, but he commands them to do an about-face, and they attack Team Rocket. Ash attacks them with Weezing, Arbok, and Meowth, then blasts them off with an explosion from Weezing.
Later, the crowd is told that, since Team Rocket interfered with the examination, they must start all over again. The examiner asks Ash if he's going to try the test again, but he declines, preferring to stick with earning the badges. Misty congratulates him, and they leave. As they leave, Todd approaches the examiner and Joy with Meowth of Team Rocket. The examiner eagerly picks him up, but he wiggles out of his hands. Meanwhile, Jessie and James fume over how they lost. They ask the Meowth sitting in front of them if he has anything to add, but he is a different Meowth. Jessie and James just look at each other.

While traveling through the forest, the group see who they think is a thief. Ash sends Pikachu after it, but Pikachu is scared because he holds a gun. When a Growlithe comes by to knock the gun out of it’s hand, Pikachu goes. They are all stopped because he isn’t a thief, but a police officer training the K-9 police squad. Ash wants to have them train Pikachu, but doesn’t realize he must go, too. Jenny gets Ash and Pikachu early in the morning and they start. Ash and Pikachu don’t make it as the course is tough. Brock suggests for him to not try because he feels Pikachu is already the perfect Pokémon. Team Rocket intrude as usual, this time with gases to confuse the smell of things and higher everyone’s voices. Jessie and James dress as Officer Jenny and they use megaphones that give them different voices.

Full summary
Ash, Misty, and Brock are walking through the forest, when they hear someone yell at a thief to stop. A man with a bag and a gun runs out of the bushes. Ash tells Pikachu to stop him, but, seeing the gun, Pikachu us too afraid. Suddenly, a Growlithe jumps out, and jump on the man, causing him to drop his gun. Pikachu jumps off of Ash's shoulder, and shocks the man. Several more Growlithe come out from the bushes and surround Ash and his friends. Officer Jenny steps out and yells at Ash for interfering. Ash and his friends are confused, and she explains that the man is a police officer dressed up as a thief in order to train the Growlithe as police dogs. Brock bends down to pet one, but the Growlithe growls at him, startling him. Officer Jenny tells them not to worry, and tells the Growlithe to line up. They obediently do so, and Jenny tells them that Ash and his friends mean no harm. Nearby, Team Rocket sees the Growlithe, and plan to catch them. Meowth is slightly concerned, but goes along with it.
Officer Jenny takes Ash and his friends to the police compound nearby, and gives them something to eat. Ash keeps raving about how brave the Growlithe were, and says that they were even braver than Pikachu. Brock and Misty remind him that the man was carrying a gun, and that he shouldn't expect his Pokemon to attack an armed assailant like him. Jenny agrees at the danger, and Ash decides that he wants to train Pikachu with the Growlithe. Brock isn't sure if Pikachu is capable of such training, but Ash sticks to his idea as he wants Pikachu to be the best he can be. Officer Jenny allows Ash to participate in a session early the next morning.
The next day, Ash is hesitant to awaken, but Jenny blows a whistle in his ear, getting him awake very quickly. They go outside to the first test, and obstacle course. Pikachu doesn't look like he has too much confidence in himself, but Ash reassures him. Jenny tells Ash that he too must run the course, since the only way to earn his Pokemon's respect is to do the same things he asks them to do. Ash looks worried, but complies. The race begins, but Growlithe and Jenny are too fast, and Ash and Pikachu lose. Brock asks Ash if he still wants to go through with the training, but he is too stubborn to give up. He thinks that being as tough as possible is what Pikachu wants, but Pikachu's reaction causes him to think.
Suddenly, Team Rocket crashes through a wall of the compound in a Growlithe van. Brock wonders why criminals would break into a police compound, asking if that isn't like saying "Please, arrest me?" The several dogs worries Meowth, a cat, but Jessie and James don't show any remorse. They tell everyone that they plan to use the Growlithe to rob banks and museums. Jenny tells them that the Growlithe will never listen to them, and Team Rocket laughs, pulling out two tubes of some sort of gas and releasing it into the air. One gas changes everyone's voice, making them high and squeaky, and the other nullifies Growlithe's senses of smell. Jenny orders the Growlithe to arrest Team Rocket, but they don't obey. Brock explains to Ash how the Growlithe can't understand Jenny's now high-pitched voice, and since they can't smell her either, they are very confused. Team Rocket changes into two Officer Jenny costumes, and whip out two megaphones with the capability of making their voices sound like Jenny's. They give different orders to the Growlithe, and they obey, much to Officer Jenny's horror. Team Rocket orders them to place Jenny under house arrest, and they wrap her up.
Team Rocket then has the Growlithe come over to the van. The door on the side opens and they are about to order the Growlithe inside when Ash stops them. Jessie has Growlithe surround him and his friends. Ash decides to battle them with his Pokemon, but he realizes that he left them inside the building, as did Misty and Brock. The Growlithe are about to attack, when Pikachu jumps between them and his master. Team Rocket gets an idea, and Jessie switches her megaphone to mimic Ash's voice. She orders Pikachu to come with her, but he knows that the Ash is the real Ash by recognizing what's in his heart. Ash is overjoyed, but Team Rocket is less impressed. They order the Growlithe to attack, but Pikachu keeps them off with his Thundershocks. Eventually, however, Pikachu becomes dizzy with the use of so much electricity, and cannot fight anymore. The Growlithe are about to attack again, when Jenny frees herself from the ropes and stops them. Jessie orders one of the Growlithe to attack her, and he latches his mouth around Jenny's hand. Suddenly, the Growlithe recognizes her heart, and lets go, licking her. Jessie tries to tell the others to attack, but they too have recognized their master and won't obey them. Team Rocket fumbles with their megaphones, mimicking each other's, then Meowth's voices. Meowth gets scared, and drives off. After being bitten in the seat by two of the Growlithe, Jessie and James run after him.
Later on, when everyone's voices have returned to normal, Ash thanks Jenny, saying that he has decided to discontinue Pikachu's training, as he likes him just the way he is. Jenny says farewell, and Brock uses one of the megaphones Team Rocket dropped to mimic her voice, forcing words into her mouth, in a way, of how much she loves him. Jenny just laughs, and Ash, Misty, and Brock continue on their way to Cinnabar Island.

Full summary
Ash, Misty, and Brock are walking along, when they come across a small town, with several banners flying. It occurs to them that it is kid's day, they're favorite holiday. They marvel at the banners, and Misty wishes that they could play all day like they used to. Ash reminds her that he still has to get the Volcano Badge, and Brock adds that she already had her "Princess" festival. Ash and Brock say that Kid's day should be a boys only holiday, but Misty whacks them over the head with her fan.
Suddenly, they hear the voice of a young woman telling them that she was expecting them and that the children are in the playground. Ash and his friends have no idea what she's talking about, but Brock jumps up and apologizes for keeping her waiting, adding that he is pleased to meet her. The young teacher's cell phone rings, and she hears that the trainers who were supposed to show up, didn't. She explains that they were supposed to come and let the children play with their Pokemon. Ash tells her that he and his friends are trainers, and Brock offers to take the others' places. She ushers them inside. Nearby, Team Rocket has been listening. James remembers how he always got out from school and got to play in the pool and eat ice cream sandwiches every Kid's day. Jessie, however, wasn't so fortunate, as she never got out of school, never had a pool, and always had single-slice bologna sandwiches.
The young teacher takes Ash and his friends outside, and the little kids rush up. They start to play with Pikachu, poking him, pulling his cheeks, and the like. Pikachu gets a little annoyed, and Ash is able pull him from them before he shocks all them. Unfortunately, Ash is the one to get all the electricity. The teacher yells at the kids for playing too rough, which scares Ash and his friends, but not the kids. Guess they're used to it. Anyway, Ash, Misty send out most of their Pokemon and the kids start to play with them. Misty observes that even the Pokemon seem to be having fun, and Brock notes that playing with children seem to help Pokemon relax. Misty notices a boy, who's name is Timmy, standing all by himself, and they all go over to him. After being asked, he says that he wants to play with the Pokemon, but he's sad that they don't have a Meowth. They ask him why, and he explains that one day a Meowth saved him from a large Beedrill when he was playing in the woods. Ever since then, he's wanted to see him again. Misty asks him if the Meowth said anything, but Timmy says no. Brock comments that it's unusual it is for a Meowth to take on a Beedrill like that. Timmy says that that is why he wants to meet a Meowth, as he is his hero. A couple other kids come up to him, and start to tease him, since they don't believe his story.
Suddenly, a small van pulls up. Inside are none other than Team Rocket, disguised as a magician (Jessie) and his female assistant (James). They tell the kids that they are doing a free magic show in honor of Kid's Day. All the kids sit down, along with Ash and his friends. They don't seem to notice the fact that the magician is a female, even though half her chests were exposed (perhaps this is why this episode wasn't originally dubbed). Team Rocket tips over a box, letting everyone look inside, seeing that it is empty. They ask to borrow Pikachu, and James snatches him up. He places him into the box, count to three, and Meowth pops out, much to Timmy's delight. The young children cheer, and Team Rocket is just about to leave when Ash asks where Pikachu went. Team Rocket throws off their costumes, and say their motto, being interrupted by the little kids twice. The kids get a hold of Weezing, and start tossing him around like a beach ball. The teacher does another of her drastic mood swings, and the kids go outside. James has Weezing fill the room with smoke, and they start their getaway once again. Timmy wants to see Meowth, but trips over the box in the smoke, spilling Pikachu out, but getting trapped inside himself. The Rockets grab the box, run outside, and peal out of the schoolyard. Ash dashes outside, and calls to them to bring Pikachu back, but Pikachu runs out from the building instead. Ash is relieved to have them back, but the Teacher notices that Timmy is missing.
In the forest, Team Rocket prepares to put Pikachu into a net. Jessie opens the box, reaches in, and pulls out a crying Timmy. James looks in and realizes that they don't have Pikachu. Timmy continues to cry, until he sees Meowth. He asks him if he remembers him, and tells him that he is his hero. Meowth is about to tell him that he's got the wrong Meowth, when Jessie and James grab him and take him around to the other side of the van. They tell him that Timmy thinks that Meowth is the Meowth that saved him from the Beedrill, and that he should make it stay that way. Meowth finally agrees, with the pictures of being a superhero. They remind him not to say anything, as it will ruin everything.
Jessie and James come back around the van, and pretend like they are about to do something bad to poor Timmy, when Meowth jumps out. Team Rocket scoffs, saying that a pathetic little Meowth is nothing to stop them. Timmy tells Meowth to use his Fury Swipes, and he does so, surprising Team Rocket a bit. Timmy and Meowth then run back to the school. The other kids apologize for teasing him, and ask if they can play with Meowth. Meowth consents, but in the attention he gets, he accidentally says something. Misty points this out, and, frightened, Meowth runs off, with Timmy and the rest soon behind.
Meowth runs to a cliff area, where Jessie and James are waiting. Timmy and everyone else run in soon behind, but don't see where Meowth went. Team Rocket jumps onto a rock and says their motto again. They send out their Pokemon and Ash sends out Pidgeotto and Brock sends out Onix to battle them. Pidgeotto's Gust attack blows Weezing away, and Onix successfully slams Arbok into the cliff. However, in the process of the battle, a large boulder is dislodged from the top of the cliff, and rolls down toward them. Timmy trips, and Ash scoops him up, only to see the boulder bearing directly down on them. Meowth is worried that Timmy and Ash will be crushed, but another Meowth jumps out and kicks the boulder in half. Jessie and James roll over the horizon on another boulder, with Meowth running ahead of them.
Timmy takes the other Meowth back to school, and the teacher thanks them all for what they did. Timmy tells Ash that he plans on using Meowth when he gets bigger to enter the Pokemon League. Misty tells him that he'll compete against Ash sooner or later and Ash says that that will be fun. Ash, Misty, and Brock leave, waving goodbye to Timmy, his new Meowth, and his classmates.
Later, Team Rocket is walking along, and Jessie tells Meowth that he should've kept his mouth shut. Meowth replies that he wouldn't have liked it, and tells her and James that they need all the help they can get. James disagrees, then asks him what they're going to do next, only proving what Meowth said.

Full summary

It's Princess Festival Day, and females everywhere are enjoying monstrous sales and discounts. Misty is estatic, and she tells Ash and Brock that they have to do everything she says. Jessie tells James the same thing, and he asks how this day would be different from any other day. Good point. Jessie and Misty both go shopping, grabbing almost everything they can get.
During a lunch break, Misty can get all sorts of delicious food for free. Brock sees a waitress walk by, and asks her if he can be her prince for the day. She thinks he is cute, but much too young. Brock is upset, and starts to eat quickly. Misty points at a sign proclaiming yet another sale, and she tells Ash and Brock that they're going to check it out as soon as she's done.
Meanwhile, Jessie is busy trying on clothes, charging them onto the Team Rocket account. A few minutes later, outside, James complains about how bored he is. Jessie tells him to quit complaining, and tells them about how she's buying stuff for the Boss to get him to not be so mad at them. Meowth says that they should try to find a half-price Pikachu and Jessie is about to respond when they all hear a rustling in some bushes. They look over, and out walks a rather large Lickitung. He sticks out his huge tongue and gobbles up the food Jessie was holding. He then uses his tongue to open up her other packages and eats the food inside them. He eats some clothes, but quickly spits them out. Jessie is enraged and, just as Lickitung is walking away, she tosses out Arbok to teach him a lesson. Lickitung paralyzes the huge cobra with one lick and Jessie is even angrier. She throws an empty Pokeball at it and manages to catch it. James asks her what she is going to do with it, and she says she'll deal with him later, after making some more purchases.
In a department store, several women are fighting over some clothes, including Jessie and Misty. Ash and Brock are sitting nearby and Ash comments on how dangerous shopping can be. On the other side of the wall, James expresses the fact that he feels he isn't tough enough to be a woman. Misty picks up a blue fabric and says that its perfect, but Jessie wants it. They decide to settle the matter with a battle, but another, much larger woman walks by and picks up the piece that they were fighting over. They demand it back, but she glares at them angrily. They apologize, and hear an announcement over the PA. It explains that the Queen of the Princess contest about begin. It explains that the winner will get a collection of Princess dolls and get a picture taken with movie star Fiorella Cappuccino. Ash, Brock, and James are all run over by the many women who want to enter. Jessie and Misty agree to use this contest to settle their dispute.
A few minutes later, the contest begins with a beauty contest. This appears to have no purpose as the announcer explains that winner of the contest and the dolls will be the winner of a Pokemon Tournament. He explains that the contestants have been divided up into two divisions, and that each participant can use up to four Pokemon.
A few minutes later, Misty begs Ash and Brock to borrow a couple of their Pokemon to even out her team. Ash says that his Pokemon won't listen to just anyone's orders, but Misty goes on to say that if they tell the Pokemon to, they will. Ash asks her why she wants to win the contest so much, and she says that her sisters all had their own dolls, and she always got hand-me-downs. Having something of her very own means a lot to her. Brock thinks that it's just a girl thing, but Ash wonders a little too loudly if it's just a Misty thing. Needless to say, he gets smacked by an angry Misty. She ends up using Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Vulpix, and her own Staryu. She assures herself that she has a good team, and Ash and Brock tell their Pokemon to obey Misty's orders. Meanwhile, Jessie borrows James' Weezing and has Meowth help her out as well. Both Jessie and Misty do quite well and, soon enough, both end up at the finals, facing each other.
James and Meowth are surprised to find out that Jessie is actually planning to follow the rules. She goes on to explain how she always got depressed by the festival, for it reminded her of what she never had. She says how her family was too poor to afford the expensive dolls, and James tells her that he hopes she wins. The battle begins with Jessie's Arbok against Pikachu. Pikachu is able to Thundershock him, as well as both Weezing and Meowth very quickly. James is horrified to see that she lost as is she, that is, until Meowth reminds her of Lickitung. She sends him out, much to the surprise of Ash and his friends. Misty tells Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, but Lickitung licks him, making him too dizzy to battle. Astounded at the turn of events, Misty sends out Bulbasaur to tie up Lickitung's tongue with his Vine Whip. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, and Bulbasaur is quickly defeated. Misty sends out Vulpix and commands her to use Flamethrower, but she too meets the same fate.
Things are looking grim for Misty, as she only has one Pokemon left. She is about to use Staryu, but Psyduck jumps out instead. Lickitung licks Psyduck repeatedly, but it has no effect. Misty tells Psyduck to use Water Gun, but he just sits there. Lickitung also refuses to obey his master, and continues to try to give Psyduck a tongue lashing. Psyduck suddenly doesn't look too good, like it's getting a headache. Misty remembers that when Psyduck's headache gets bad enough, it can use psychic powers. She has him use Confusion, and Lickitung's tongue attack backfires, sending him rolling towards Team Rocket. He hits them, and they all fly into the air. Misty has won and the doll set is hers. She is very happy and says that she couldn't have done it without Psyduck. She packs up the dolls and sends them home, courtesy of Pidgeot Express, to make her sisters jealous.
Jessie is heart-broken since she lost her chance to win the dolls. Lickitung tries to cheer her up with a lick, but it doesn't work. James feels sorry for Jessie, and gives her a specially made set of dolls.

Full summary
As this story begins as our heroes are sitting in the Pokemon Center playing when Ash gets a Phone Call from Professor Oak on the PC Phone from back home at Pallet town. Professor Oak appears on the screen and so does ash's Muk, the Pokemon Professor is very displeased with Ash's Muk as it has climbed all over him and spoiling his new lab coat. He caught the Muk back at the Power Plant. Professor Oak informs Ash that his Pokedex is now upgradeable and tells ash of how he can get his old Pokedex to be as same as the newer version. Ash Follows the directions and places his Little Red Pokemon Encyclopedia into the small slot on the computer, funny how he is always at the right computer when that happens, anyway as I was saying. They go back to a table and talk about the Pokemon that they wish would hatch out of the mysterious egg that Ash Found back at the Pokemon Fossil Canyon. Naturally they all say their favorite Pokemon, Misty choosing Water and Brock choosing Rock.
After this they leave the Pokemon Center and go outside where they find Team Rocket posing as egg sellers they are wearing one of Team Rockets more lame uniforms. They have a whole basketful of eggs, just like Ash's Mysterious egg. Team Rocket try to talk them into trading or buying one of their eggs and when they politely refuse Jessie and James resort to throwing all of their fake eggs in the Air. The real egg, that Brock was holding, gets taken when there is a mix-up with all the eggs.
Team Rocket run out of site and escape with the real egg! Ash, Misty and Brock are stuck with a fake. Whilst in Team Rockets little hiding shack Meowth takes care of the egg. Whilst it is in his possession, the egg gets its best attention ever. Our little furred friend is quite surprisingly a good Mom, ah, Dadeh whatever. Meowth sleeps with it, sings with it and even eats with it. Who would of thought!
The three young adventurers follow a trail of broken red blue and green eggs until they reach the shack in which Team Rocket are hiding. They decide to Bust in, even though it may be dangerous, and get the egg back.
They all quickly bust into the shack but unfortunately, James, the male member of Team Rocket is quick to react and as soon as they break in he sends out Weezing who gives a Poison Gas attack. Weezing's attack is quite powerful and it makes Ash and others cough and gasp for breath. Ash fells around his belt and grabs the Pokeball that contains his bird Pidgeotto. Ash tells Pidgeotto to use its gust attack and before you know it Weezing's gas is gone, much to the surprise of the infamous two. They take a lunge for the little white egg. The egg goes up and down much like in a game of Football! Through much controversy Pikachu ends up with the egg and gives the egg back to Ash, at that moment the egg begins to break open, it was beginning to hatch.
Misty, enthralled with what was going on, jumps in pushes everyone out of the way to get a closer look and the Newly hatched Pokemon. When She does the egg hatches and out pops a new unidentified Pokemon. Ash and others are all surprised, especially Team Rocket who instantly want to steal it. Ash, points his newly updated Pokedex at this Pokemon and it recognizes it as a new Pokemon, Togepi.
Togepi, unlike other Pokemon will not just like anybody, to Ash' and Brock's disappointment It chooses Misty! As Misty is the first thing that this Pokemon sees it thinks that Misty is its mother.
This newly hatched Pokemon causes quite a fuss among the group. Ash feels that he should have it because he found it; Brock feels it should be his because he cared for it, before Meowth; Meowth wants it because he looked after it before it hatched Jessie and James Both JUST WANT IT! Meowth says to them that they didn't do anything to help in Togepi's Growth. Misty feels she should have it, as Togepi likes her best. They all decide to have a Pokemon Tournament to decide who should have it. Meowth panics because he has no Pokemon and Goes and Asks Jessie and James for theirs. They refuse as he didn't let them participate, Meowth then Remembers that he is a Pokemon and decides to battle for himself. After the draw ends up between Misty and Ash, the first battle since Cerulean City. Of course everybody's favorite trainer, Ash, wins but because Misty Was the First thing that Togepi saw she gets to keep Togepi.

Jessie and James arrive to collect this money, but soon discover that it was a trick to get James back and force him to marry Jessiebelle. Full summary
Ash, Misty and Brock are continuing on their journey when they see a missing poster with a picture that looks like James. A limousine pulls up next to them and a man steps out with a megaphone and calls out, "Has anyone seen the boy on the missing poster?"
Ash replies, "Yes, it is James from Team Rocket!" The man grabs Ash and friends and puts them in his car. He then shouts, "Off to the mansion."
We then see Jessie, James and Meowth in the bushes next to the poster. They see the poster and Jessie and Meowth run over to it. They ask James "Is that you on the poster?" James replies, "That boy looks pathetic!" to which Meowth replies, "That's what we mean!" Jessie yells out, "We have to investigate." but James protests and ends up being dragged along.
In the limo Ash and friends are drinking tea and ask how long till they get there. The man says they are nearly at the end of the driveway and Misty comments "It feels like we drove through the gate half an hour ago." Then they see a mansion and Brock says "I have seen smaller shopping centers then this." The mans says "This is not our house it is only the house of James' favorite Pokemon Growlie. Then they see the real mansion which is even bigger than Growlies house. Jessie and James have arrived also and say they are in the lap of luxury. James isn't to thrilled.
The man escorts Ash and friends into the house where they see two coffins. Misty asks if there has been a funeral and the man replies that James' parents died this morning and James was their only son. He is the sole heir to the estate. Meanwhile Jessie, James and Meowth are spying from the window. They ask James if the information from the old man is true. The old man continues that James must marry his fiance within 24 hours or the money will be donated to charity. Ash and friends sit on the front steps. Ash wonders whether they should go and look for James to tell him about the news. Suddenly Jessie, James and Meowth fall from the top of the house. Jessie and Meowth start to hit James because they want him to get married. James yells out, "Never." Ash tells them to stop hitting James. Meowth says, "Do you want to be the richest guy or what?" Brock says, "It is up to James to decide if he wants to get married." James falls to the ground saying, "I can't remember anything except flunking Pokemon Tech and joining the bike gang. The only thing I remember before that is a little boy, me, and his pet Growlithe, Growlie. The two haven't eaten for days. The young boy says to Growlie 'save yourself' and falls down frozen and dying. He then sees angels coming for him and dies. Growlie howls all night for his master but to no avail." Jessie, Meowth, Ash and Brock are crying. Misty yells, "But he is right there! Maybe James has amnesia." Jessie says, "James has to get married or he doesn't get the money." James runs away but Jessie and Meowth lasso him and drag him back. They put James in a blue suit and gag him. Then they put on invisible costumes.
The two villains drag James to the door and knock. Jessie acts as James' mouth. The old man answers and Jessie says (speaking for James), "I have come back." The old man is very excited and leads James into the house to the two coffins. Jessie says something about the money which the old man hears. Suddenly they hear laughing from the coffins and out jump James' parents, alive. James says, "I knew they would do something like this." Jessie and Meowth finally notice that James does not have amnesia. James yells "I need to escape" but the old man and his parents drag him upstairs. Ash and friends follow. Brock says, "It was all a trap so James would get married."
Upstairs, with his parents James is getting a lecture about why he has to get married. His mom says, "It is the best for us, I mean you. You will learn to be a real gentleman and you can carry on the family line." James turns around to see a pretty girl hiding her face behind a fan. Jessie and Meowth are surprised and Meowth yells out, "She looks like Jessie!" The girl says, "My name is Jessebelle and I will be your loving wife, James, and I will educate you in how to be a proper gentleman." James yells again, "I need to get out!" Jessie says, "You need to get the inheritance." Jessebelle asks him, "Why are you talking to yourself?" Ash and friends are surprised that nobody can see Jessie and Meowth in their invisible costumes.
Jessebelle takes James downstairs to the vault to count all of the money he will inherit. She leads him into a room full of old gym equipment. James yells, "Jessebelle you tricked me into coming down here." He then sees his parents who say, "We are tired of waiting for you to grow up." Jessebelle cracks a whip and says, "Now James will obey Jessebelle." James' parents and the old man surround Jessie and Meowth saying, "We pretended not to see you so that you would bring James down here for us." Jessie throws a smoke bomb an James tries to run away from Jessebelle but she keeps cracking the whip around him so that he can't escape. James' parents are watching this with interest. They say, "James and Jessebelle were made for each other. James yells at them, "If you weren't such lousy parents you'd stop this crazy woman." Jessebelle knocks James down and sends out her Pokemon, a Vileplume. She orders it to use stun spore. Every one is paralyzed by the attack except for James' parents. Jessebelle yells, "I will make a gentleman out of you even if it destroys us both." James says, "It is just like last time."
Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, Jessie and Meowth are thrown outside. Jessie says, "At least James will get the inheritance." Suddenly they hear a pounding on the doghouse door. Everyone tries to open it but Growlie opens it himself. He runs off in the direction of the mansion off to save his master, James.
Inside the mansion James is getting tired of Jessebelle whipping him and is trying to run away. She yells, "James it is time for the wedding." James calls out to Growlie and the faithful pet jumps out in front of James. Jessebelle yells to Vileplume, "Stop Growlie." But Growlie grabs James and jumps out the window. They run into the doghouse where the others are waiting. Jessie says, "Your fiance is despicable." Meowth then says, "I told you she was like you." Jessie knocks Meowth to the ground. James says, "Jessebelle is the reason that I left home." We see another one of James' memories. We see James walking around with Growlie. James says, "Ever since our engagement was announced Jessebelle kept following me." We then see a young girl, Jessebelle, following James while holding an Oddish in her arms. Jessebelle yells at James, "Wait, I haven't finished teaching you how to eat spaghetti properly yet." James replies, "Everything I do is not refined enough for you." That is the end of the memory. James says, "My only friend on the estate was Growlie." Suddenly a wall starts to crack. It breaks and sends Jessie and Meowth flying through the roof. Jessebelle and Vileplume appear in the cavity. Jessebelle orders Vileplume to do stun spore but Growlie uses ember to burn it away. Ash sends out Pikachu and tells it to thundershock Vileplume while Growlie uses ember on it. Jessebelle and Vileplume run away from the battle.
Next we see James' parents and he old man feeding Magikarp in a pond. Jessebelle runs up and says, "I can't stand that Growlie." She knocks them in the pond and then runs off. James' parents say, "She is to good for our son." James is watching from the bushes and says to Growlie, "Watch over my parents while I am gone because I have to have my freedom." He then leaves. Jessie and Meowth are walking away assuming James got married to Jessebelle when they suddenly hear a voice from behind them says, "Prepare for trouble." Jessie looks up and sees James in the balloon. She runs over with Meowth and James pulls them in. He and Jessie shake hands. Jessie says, "We may not be rich but at least we have our freedom!" They stand and look at each other while Meowth runs along the ground.
Ash and friends are being chased by Jessebelle. She says, "You have to help me find James again." Ash yells back, "We will." Jessebelle then yells to him, "You're not running properly, let me show you how."

Full summary

First up we see our three heroes in a park with an apple tree. Pikachu is standing behind some bushes next to the tree. Suddenly it falls down as if it is dead. Brock and Misty see this but Ash doesn't since he was sleeping. Brock races over to get Pikachu while Misty tries to wake up Ash. Brock runs over to Ash and Misty with Pikachu in his arms. He says that there might be something stuck in Pikachu's throat that is making its voice weird. He then says that they have to get Pikachu to a Pokemon Center very quickly. Ash tries shaking Pikachu to get its throat clear but it doesn't work.
Ash and friends then run down the path looking for the nearest Pokemon Center. Brock says that there isn't a Pokemon Center for miles around. They reach a hospital, a human one, and start knocking on the door and crying out for help. The doctor comes to the door complain about not getting enough sleep. Ash says that his Pikachu needs help fast. It is an emergency. Misty then says the same thing and the doctor says that he can't resist a pretty face.
The doctor takes Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu inside. He says that treating Pokemon is not his specialty and that they should go see Nurse Joy at the Pokemon Center. They say that it is too far and Pikachu wouldn't make it. After telling them that his name is Dr. Procter, he agrees to help. He takes Pikachu into his operating theater. Pikachu has already fainted by now. Dr. Proctor puts a stethoscope to Pikachu's throat. He says that there is something stuck in it. He hooks up a machine to Pikachu's cheeks which tells him that Pikachu's electric pressure is low. He asks Brock to get the fribulator (machine that shocks people so that there hearts start beating) and set it to 10,000 volts. He then grabs the two ends of the machine and yells, "Clear!" The two ends are put onto Pikachu for a second and an electric shock gets Pikachu. Pikachu now wakes up. Dr. Proctor asks it to open its mouth so he can get its throat clear. Pikachu does so and Dr. Proctor reaches into Pikachu's mouth and gets shocked, but he still manages to pull out an entire apple. Dr. Proctor says that Ash is a bad trainer to let his Pikachu eat an apple whole. Ash protests saying that he didn't let Pikachu eat it.
Suddenly the phone starts to ring. Dr. Proctor says that he is off duty and won't answer it. Brock ends up answering the phone. Its Nurse Joy. She says there has been an accident and she needs the extra room of the hospital to help treat Pokemon. She then shows a video of a crash scene with Pokemon scattered everywhere. Jessie and James are there too fighting over who was supposed to be watching the road. James says he thought Meowth was. Meowth is sitting down crying because he can't find the charm that is supposed to be on his head. Nurse Joy says that they need help urgently. Dr. Proctor asks f she would like to go out and get pizza with him sometime. Nurse Joy gets angry at him and he says that you can't blame a guy for trying. Brock says he doesn't like Dr. Proctor because he sounds to much like himself. Misty agrees. Dr. Proctor hands everyone hospital uniforms and some equipment. He says he needs help because there are not enough doctor and nurses.
Suddenly they hear an ambulance coming. Two Chansey carry in a stretcher carrying a crying Cubone. They put it onto the operating table and hand Dr. Proctor some X-rays. Ash sends out Bulbasaur to hold down Cubone. Dr. Proctor says you can't be to rough with patients. He then says that Cubone has fractures that will have to be repaired with super glue and a bandage. Misty picks it up and says that it will be all right. The Cubone then calms down. Dr. Proctor say that Misty is a natural.
The next patients are brought in by Jessie and James. They have and Arbok and a Raticate. Jessie is really mad because the Raticate is trying to bite her Arbok. Dr. Proctor says that it can't since it has broken teeth. He orders that it has them glued back on with the almighty super glue. Dr. Proctor then asks Jessie if she wants to go out for some pizza sometime. Jessie has hearts in her eyes and says that Dr. Proctor must be a very good doctor. Dr. Proctor says he will help her Arbok. He says that Arbok poison is circulating around its body. He takes it over to Ash who says that he shouldn't help them because they are from Team Rocket. Dr. Proctor gives Arbok a shot of anesthetic and Jessie yells at him saying you are supposed to heal it, not kill it. Dr. Proctor explains that it is only sleeping not dead. Ash asks him why he is helping Team Rocket. He says that doctors are not here to judge but to heal. He then says that maybe he can convince this beautiful young lady to help. Jessie says that he is obviously referring to me. We will help as best as we can.
Next we see Meowth on a hospital bed still crying over his lost charm. It says it will pay any price to get it back. The nearby Chansey hands him a bowl of rice. Meowth yells at it, "Price not rice!" The Chansey then hands it a game, but Meowth says that it doesn't want to play. Chansey tries to cheer up Meowth. It even gives it the Officer Jenny's booth from Pokemon Emergency! Chansey then tries giving the tiresome Meowth a Venonat, but still Meowth was sad. Meowth then goes a bit crazy so Chansey slaps its face then applies a bandage around its head.
Meanwhile the other helpers are all helping Pokemon too. James and Brock are gluing a Pinsir's pincer back on while Jessie and Misty are trying to get a Voltorb out of a Weepinbells mouth. The Voltorb is getting pretty mad and Dr. Proctor says it might self-destruct. Jessie can't get it out so a Chansey has a try. It is successful.
Ash, Brock and Dr. Proctor are now helping a very angry Dodrio that has its heads tangled up. Dr. Proctor says that the three heads represent joy, sorrow and anger. Ash says that they all look pretty angry to him. Dr. Proctor says they have to do something or it will suffocate. He tries to put it to sleep by giving it some anesthetic but one of the heads knocks his hand and injects the needle into the doctor. Dr. Proctor says that he will be out for 6 hours and then he goes to sleep. Ash sends out Squirtle which uses Water Gun on Dodrio. He then gets Pikachu to Thundershock it. Ash readies a Pokeball but Brock reminds him that he can't catch it.
Everyone is still busy looking after various Pokemon. Jessie and James have decided it is time for Team Rocket to take over and catch all of the Pokemon. They take off their hospital uniforms and jump up onto a stretcher. They then say their motto and at the end Meowth jumps up and says "I want my charm!" Jessie and James fall to the floor. Jessie says that it is time to catch all of the Pokemon. Misty replies saying that we all help your Pokemon is that the right thing to do now? Jessie says yes. Jessie and James then push stretcher catchers at Ash, Misty and Brock. These are stretchers with arms. They catch all three of them. James pulls out a big needle and says he is going to use it on Ash, but a Chansey jumps in front of him. James tells it to move but it won't. He then calls to Arbok to get rid of it. Arbok doesn't move so James calls to Weezing but it won't attack either. Dr. Proctor wakes up and says that they won't attack Chansey because it helped to treat them. Jessie gets angry at him and throws a beaker of water at him but Dr. Proctor whips out a scalpel and cuts it in half. He then reveals his 'ammo' a coat lined with scalpels, needles and scissors. James says to Jessie that they better not mess with him. Some Chansey free Ash and friends and they push the stretchers at Team Rocket, who run out of the building.
Jessie is annoyed that they didn't get any Pokemon, but James says they did get one. He holds out a Voltorb which self-destructs in his hand. When they land on the ground again, the charm that was embedded in Meowths head pops back out again. Hes very relieved, but Jessie and James dont exactly agree.
Back in the hospital Dr. Proctor says that Ash , Misty and Brock should be doctors and he asks them if they want to stay and train. They decline. Misty says that she wants to be a doctor one day but for now she still has a lot to learn about water Pokemon. Ash and friends leave the hospital waving goodbye to their newfound friend Dr. Proctor.

Full summary

Ash, Misty, and Brock come across a large gorge, know as "Grandpa Canyon." They see hundreds of people carrying pickaxes and backpacks making their way down, and wonder what they're doing. Gary shows up, teasing Ash for being ignorant. He tells Ash that he, along with all the other people, are looking for Pokemon fossils. He rushes off, leaving Ash with another taunt. Brock and Misty restrain the fuming Ash as he wants to find a fossil before Gary does. Brock expresses his feelings as to how the fossils should be left in peace, but Misty disagrees. Jigglypuff sees them, but by the time he jumps onto a rock to sing, they've left.
Gary is already digging away at the canyon floor when he comes across a small, spiral shaped fossil. A scientist takes it from his hands and examines it. Gary thinks that it's a brain, but (much to his cheerleaders' disgust) it turns out to be fossilized Pokemon manure.
Meanwhile, Ash and his friends view everything from the edge of the canyon. Brock notes that nobody has found a significant fossil yet, and wonders if there is any truth to the fossil rush. Suddenly, they hear a familiar voice. They turn and see Meowth standing with his back to them. He complains to himself that Jessie and James are late when they pop up from behind a rock. They go through most of their motto, but Meowth bashes them over the head with a mallet. Angered, Jessie grabs the mallet and sends him flying into the side of a cliff. They tell Meowth that they've planted "the dynamite" and once they set it off, they'll be able to get all the fossils.
Ash and his friends are shocked to hear this. Brock says that everyone will be caught in the blast and he and Misty dash off to tell them while Ash runs towards Team Rocket to stop them. He yells to them, but he's too late, as they've already lit the fuse. Ash sends out Squirtle, who tries to put out the small flame. He's quick, but not quick enough, as the flame skips by each time. They run after it, still trying to put it out. Team Rocket send out their Pokemon and chase Ash. They all run down the cliff, nobody succeeding in their goal. James commands Weezing to use Sludge Attack, but he trips and they all start to roll down the slope, picking up Ash and his Pokemon along the way.
After reaching the bottom, they see the flame sizzle by. Ash looks ahead, and sees that they are only yards away from where the dynamite sits. In a last ditch effort, Pikachu shocks the dynamite, but it doesn't work. The dynamite explodes, opening up a huge hole in the ground through which everybody but Squirtle fall. The cliffs on either side of the hole crumble, and the rock plugs up the gap. Brock and Misty soon arrive on the scene and they start to move the rock out of the way. Jigglypuff appears again, seeing the pile of rock as a stage, but it flattens, angering Jigglypuff once again.
Deep inside the earth, everybody awakens and find themselves in a huge cave. Meowth notes that they must've fallen into the cave due to the hole, and Jessie and James accuse Ash. They argue, but Meowth quickly breaks it up by pointing out that the hole is plugged. James smiles to himself, but when he's asked if he has a solution, he simply says that they are doomed. Jessie clubs him over the head. Suddenly, Pikachu points into the shadows, where several glowing eyes appear. Jessie and James cling to each other, and the eyes come into the light. Ash uses Dexter and it tells him that they are Omanyte, Omastar, Kabuto, and Kabutops. Their eyes are bloodshot, and they look like they just woke up. James concludes that the dynamite blast woke them up, and he and Jessie throw some Pokeballs at them. Kabutops deflects them with his huge blades and Ash sends out Charmeleon to protect them. Needless to say, he won't obey Ash, and the ancient Pokemon start to chase everyone.
Outside, Misty and Brock tell Officer Jenny what has happened. She tells them that the bulldozers can't make it down, and runs off to find some more people to help dig. Brock sends Geodude out, and he helps them all move the rocks.
Back in the cave, the ancient Pokemon are beating up on Arbok and Weezing. Pikachu tries to shock two Kabutops, but to no avail. Ash asks Charmeleon to help him, but he is asleep on a rock. The Kabutops lunge at Ash and Pikachu, and just when escape seems impossible, they stop. They and all the other ancient Pokemon scurry away. Team Rocket and Ash come out from where they were hiding and stare at the retreating figures. Suddenly, they hear something else approaching. An Aerodactyl swoops in, knocking Charmeleon from his perch. He turns, and glares at everybody. Dexter tells Ash that scientists feel that Aerodactyl was a carnivore, since it has such sharp teeth. Jessie points out that this must be why the others ran away and Meowth nervously hopes that he doesn't like cat food. Aerodactyl swoops down and starts to chase them. Charmeleon, angered about being awakened, challenges Aerodactyl. One dive, however, and the fire lizard is knocked out.
Suddenly, they all hear Brock and Misty's voices from above. Just as the hole opens up, Aerodactyl scoops Ash up in his claws. As he flies towards the gap, Pikachu and Charmeleon jump onto his tail. He flies out, and they fall off. Misty and Brock ask Pikachu where Ash is, and he points up at where Aerodactyl has landed, still clutching Ash. Jigglypuff shows up again, running over to a stool and two spotlights that he sees as a stage. Misty asks Jigglypuff to sing, and he seems eager to comply.
Meanwhile, Aerodactyl and Charmeleon are "arguing" in a way. Charmeleon suddenly starts to glow, evolves into Charizard, and flies up into the air. Aerodactyl sets off again, this time with Charizard following behind. Ash is touched, as he thinks Charizard evolved in order to rescue him. A Flamethrower from him quickly changes this thought, and it dawns on Ash that Charizard only evolved in order to fight Aerodactyl.
Charizard continues to let loose flames and Misty runs back over to Jigglypuff. She turns on one of the lamps and Jigglypuff starts in on his song. Aerodactyl starts to look tired and, before Ash falls asleep, he tells the Pokemon to stay awake long enough to put him down. Charizard, meanwhile, is keeping his fingers in his ears so that he doesn't fall asleep. Aerodactyl finally does fall asleep and after he drops Ash, he falls back through the hole. The impact of him hitting the ground plugs it back up, however. Charizard swoops in and catches Ash on his back, then lands, falling asleep. Ash rolls off, and stops by an egg. By this time, Jigglypuff has realized that everyone is asleep. He brings out his marker, and doodles all over everybody's faces.
Later, Officer Jenny tells everyone that the Aerodactyl was a dream caused by Jigglypuff. Some people, like Gary, are skeptical, but believe her. Officer Jenny also tells everyone that Grandpa Canyon will be closed off to protect from any other cave-ins. As they leave, Ash wonders aloud where Jigglypuff went. He then pulls out the egg he rolled up against when he fell asleep, and shows it off. Brock pulls it out of his hands and runs off, with Ash soon behind. Meanwhile, however, Team Rocket is still inside the cave. They nervously sing to the ancient asleep Pokemon to make sure that they won't wake up. How will they get out of this one...
