Pokemon Episode 20 – The Ghost of Maiden’s Peak
Episode Summary
Season 1 – Indigo League
Full summary
Ash and company (with Team Rocket trailing behind) sail into the harbor of the town Maiden's Rock, where they learn that a Summer's End Festival is going on. Brock sees a beautiful girl standing at a dock and is about to go over to meet her, but a crowd obstructs his view.
After the crowd has left, Brock goes over to the dock, but the girl has mysteriously disappeared. Meanwhile, Team Rocket plans to go through the festival looking for loose change anyone has dropped. James, however, spots the same woman Brock saw and he falls in love, too. Brock tells Misty and Ash about the girl he saw earlier, but an old woman overhears him and warns him about her. The old lady says that all men who fall in love with the ghost of Maidens Peak are doomed to a horrible fate.
Later that day, James is talking to Jessie and Meowth about the girl he had seen earlier, but the old lady interrupts him and tells him the same thing she told Brock.
That night, both groups end up at Maidens Peak where they see a 2000-year-old painting. James and Brock both immediately recognize it as the girl they had seen earlier. The old shrine man explains that the woman seen in the picture waited on a cliff as her true love set sail for a war. Although he never returned, she never left the spot on the cliff and waited until she turned to stone. That stone is the rock that looks like the woman on the edge of the coastline.
James and Brock both want to stay with the rock, but Meowth convinces James to leave and come back later to swipe the painting and sell it. Brock on the other hand stays on the cliff and examines the rock, but later joins his friends at the Pokemon Center.
After they leave, the shrine doors open up and a ghostly image of the woman appears. Meowth freaks out, but is put back to sleep by strange waves. The ghost appears to both James and Brock and they follow her as if in a trance.
The next morning, Jessie and Meowth go looking for James, and Misty and Ash go looking for Brock, but instead of finding James and Brock, the two groups find each other. Jessie wants to fight and starts to say the motto, but hears James voice, so she follows it to the shrine, where she finds Brock and James.
The old women from the day before shows up and warns everyone about the ghost and offers everyone anti-ghost stickers for a small price, which everyone gladly buys to get rid of the ghost.
Later that night, the maiden's ghost appears again (after a strong wind blows all the stickers away) and levitates Brock and James away from the group and to her. Ash and everyone else run after the ghost and try to rescue Brock and James. Jesse first tries to get back James, but only makes the ghost angry, so it sends out some weird demon ghosts. Ash uses Dexter to try and identify the new ghost, but finds that the only pokemon detected is coming from the maiden. The maiden reveals herself as the old lady who then reveals herself as a talking Gastly (british accent).
In payback for its pranks, the gang tries to use their pokemon against Gastly, but it keeps changing into different forms that are the pokemon's weakness.
Finally, when all else fails, the sun rises and saves the day because we all no that ghost dont like the daylight. As the festival ends, the group sets off little wooden boats with candles in them that are supposed to guide spirits back home. Resting on one, Gastly tells the real ghost of the maiden that he will continue to keep her legend alive and look for her long lost love.
At the end of the episode theres music playing so Misty asks Ash if he wants to dance and he agrees as our heroes have finally gotten rid of the ghost for now. Mediafire link
